Funeral Service for Derrick Clay Griffin, 37, of Marshall will be held at 4:00p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Pete Sellers and Andrew Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service in Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Scottville, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., at Downs Funeral Home. Derrick passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 07, 2017 in Marshall.

Derrick Clay Griffin was born November 06, 1979 in Marshall, Texas to Darryl and Bridget Griffin, both of Marshall. Derrick was a member of Marshall High School graduating class of 1998. He was employed at Fish and Still Equipment for the past 18 years. He and his family were active members of River Crossing Cowboy Church. Derrick was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing and coaching baseball. In high school Derrick lettered in both football and baseball where he was a proud Marshall Maverick. He was a fan of both the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, watching and playing sports, and was considered by all, a loyal friend. Derrick was a loving husband and father, a man who was a great role model for his son, Dillon and the many young men he had the privilege of coaching.

Derrick is survived by his parents, Darryl and Bridget Griffin; wife, Heather Griffin; son, Dillon Clay Griffin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Judy Biard; brother, Andrew Smith; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Seth and Katie Biard, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
