Obituary

A Funeral Service for Don R. Bolander, 87, of Marshall will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow the service in Scottsville Cemetery. Mr. Bolander passed away Thursday, February 09, 2017.

Don Bolander was born November 23, 1929 to Earl and Nettie Bolander. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. After more than 27 years working as a heavy equipment operator for the Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America, he retired. As a retired man he didn't sit down and kick his feet up, Don lived life. As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, Don spent as much time riding and piddling with motorcycles as he could. Don and Jane traveled the lower 48 states and Alaska, as well as Canada and Mexico.   During trips to and through Arizona and Colorado, Don would take time to backpack through the beautiful mountains taking in the scenery. Another passion of Don's was classic cars and fast cars. At the age of 77 Don was still drag racing, and his response times were as fast as his younger competitors. In addition to drag racing Don enjoyed dirt bike racing. Don was very proud of his service in the United States Army having served honorably in Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving Don is his wife, Anita Jane Bolander; daughter, Teri and husband, David Lambert; son, Blake and Tonja Bolander; daughter, Tami and husband, Briscoe Davis; grandchildren, Brooke Bolander, Moriah and Willie Bunker, James Briscoe Davis, Lexi Davis, and great-grandson, Brantson Bunker.
