Obituary

Our Lord Jesus Christ called Donna Gayle Herrington home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, after a brief illness. Donna loved her Lord and her family completely. She was a devoted and beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great aunt. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts, but the memory of her sweet, gentle, loving spirit will never leave us.

She was born on Wednesday, October 21, 1970, in West Monroe, Louisiana to David and Anne Herrington. She was the youngest of 3 children and the pride of her two other brothers, Dave and Jerry. The family moved to Marshall, Tx in 1972 and she lived there throughout the rest of her life.

She excelled in school and treasured her time with family and many good friends. She was active in her church and in community activities. As a girl, she developed a talent and love for cross-stitch needlework. She spent countless hours creating beautiful and cherished cross-stitch gifts to bring joy to those she loved.

She always had a love for animals and small children, and it was this love of children that led to her passion for teaching preschoolers. As an adult, she felt the call of God to teach, and give her students a loving Christian foundation on which to build their lives. It became a great joy to teach preschool alongside her beloved mother for many happy years. She taught at both First Methodist Day School Marshall and First Methodist Day School Longview over multiple decades. She was blessed to have taught with so many wonderful, talented teachers and friends throughout her career.

Her love and dedication for her students, family and friends, and her passion for her Lord were the hallmarks of her life. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her soft, gentle nature, her sly sense of humor and her unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her father, David Lewis Herrington, Sr.

She is survived by her mother, Anne Herrington; brothers, Dave Herrington and wife, Renee and Gerald Herrington and wife, Randi; nieces, Ashley Razon and husband, Steven, Jocelyn Gicker, Isabelle Gicker and Kathryn McCoy; nephew, Dominic Herrington; great niece, Naya Razon along with other family and friends.
