Thelma Doris McCarty, 83, of Marshall, TX left her loving family and friends to be with the Lord eternally on June 10, 2013. She was born June 24, 1929 in Bullard, TX to the late Henry Daniel Eidson and Thelma Reva Murphy Eidson Thompson. Mrs. McCarty was an exceptionally active and long-time member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marshall and the former Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church, also of Marshall. She participated on all levels of church leadership, particularly as an ordained elder, CP Women's organization member, teacher and session clerk for over 30 years, attending worship regularly as her health would allow. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Emory McCarty of Marshall; sisters, Verdie Conner of Longview, TX and Blanche Wilson of Shreveport, LA; and one brother, D.L. Eidson of Blue Eye, MO. Her survivors include her three sons, Billy John McCarty (Ramona) of McDonald, TN, Michael Lee (Micky) McCarty (Charlotte) of Marshall, and Jeremy Lee McCarty (Karen) of Marshall; sisters, Frances Dillard of Longview and Dorothy Hall of Lewisville, TX,; and special friend, Cecil Bishop of Karnack, TX. Mrs. McCarty was surrounded and loved by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The entire McCarty family wishes to express deep appreciation for the loving services given by Dr. Richard Wilson and staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center, Marshall, Beacon Hospice of Longview, TX and especially to Dr. and Mrs. Lewis Browne of Longview, TX.
