Dorothy Ladell Barrett Matthis was born July 9, 1923 in Morris County, TX to Frank Turner Barrett Sr. and Leon Watson Barrett. She married Audry Seavorn Matthis on September 12, 1941, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2009. Dorothy Ladell was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Dorothy Ladell passed away April 22, 2013 at her residence. Dorothy Ladell Matthis is survived by her daughter, Linda Mayfield and her husband Roy of Marshall; her sons, Wayne Matthis and his wife Pat of Big Sandy, TX, Casey Matthis and his wife Linda of Longview; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Cathryn Swant of Manchester, TN; brothers, Frank Barrett Jr. and wife Freddie Jo of Daingerfield, TX, Bobby Barrett and wife Nina of Longview, Ray Barrett and wife Pluma of Hughes Springs, TX; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Matthis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leon Barrett and her husband, Audry Matthis.
