Obituary

A Graveside Funeral Service for Dorothy Meadows, 62, of Marshall will be held at 11am Monday, May 23, 2016 in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, Louisiana. Ms. Meadows passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 in Marshall.

Dorothy Estelle Meadows was born December 1, 1953 to Sybil and Ralph Meadows. She was a graduate of Friendship College and East Texas Baptist College and obtained a Masters of Library Science from LSU. Dorothy worked for East Texas Baptist University as a Librarian for 27 years before moving to Texas State Technical College in 2007.

Dorothy loved to read and was active in reading to other patients at Heritage House. She was an avid singer and loved to sing at weddings. She was an integral part of Phi Theta Kappa and TSTC's Student Government Association, and was a spelling coach for TSTC's spelling team for the annual Harrison County Literacy Group's Spelling Bee. Ms. Dorothy loved to participate in the Friday Forums and any other meeting that helped further the development of TSTC. It was always a job to see her riding across campus smiling and talking with faculty and staff alike. Dorothy was a problem solver. She didn't mind taking on difficult tasks and working through them. She was a spiritual lady and attended First Assembly of God Church in Marshall. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her cousins, Martha Lennard and Nora Lennard McClure of Shreveport, Louisiana and Curtis Tatom of Texarkana, Texas, and her kitty cat, Maxine. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sybil Higgins Meadows and Ralph Elton Meadows.
