She was born to Frank and Irene Mings on September 30, 1946. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul; a daughter, Twyla (Steve); a son, Frank (Alisa); and her grandchildren, Sarah, Ava and Shane.

Dorothy was a singer who entertained so many with her wonderful voice at Oprys and churches across Texas.  She always left the crowds with a smile, be it through her songs or her various impersonations of celebrities.  She found genuine joy in her singing and made a lasting impression on all those that heard her voice.

Her love of her family will remain in our hearts and memories. Dorothy was a devoted Christian, wife and mother who always put others' needs above herself. She loved an evening of games with family or friends, although she admittedly cheated as much as she accused others of cheating.  Her collection of salt and pepper shakers from literally across the world brought her happiness as she told others stories about how she got them.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on August 27, 2021 at the Oak Grove Baptist in Harleton, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas on Thursday, August 26th. Graveside service will follow at Yates cemetery.
