Dorothy J. Stephens was born February 13, 1936 to Willie (Bluff) and Bertea Davidson in Karnack, Texas. Dorothy attended school at G.W. Carver Elementary and High School. She accepted Christ at an early age in joining Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where her membership remained active until her death. There she sang in the Antioch Senior Choir, served as a Deaconess, and in its mission ministry.

On February 10, 1953 she married Amos C. Stephens with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage until his death in October of 2016. Their union blessed with 3 sons and 5 daughters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Bertea Davidson; husband, Amos Stephens; three daughters, Rochelle Jones, Bertea Harper, and Cynthia Lockett; son, David Stephens; sister, Alice Faye Lee.

Dorothy passed away on May 11, 2020 leaving to cherish her memory are her sister, Barbara Lewis of Detroit, MI; brother, Willie Davidson of Karnack, Texas; aunt, Goldie Davis of Dallas, Texas; uncle, Robert Davis of Austin, Texas; children, Sharon Watkins of Dallas, Texas, Barry (Sandra) Stephens of Missouri City, Texas, Kenneth (Mary) Stephens, Annette (Bill) Hicks, Barbara (Michael) Boone, and Tammy McCoy all of Karnack, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.
