Earline "Bill" Childers Earline (Powell) Childers departed this life on April 27th, 2012. Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30th at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall followed by a brief service at 6:30. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on May 1st, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church in Colfax, Louisiana. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Earline was born January 23, 1932, in Rapids Parish, Louisiana to Walter C. Powell, Sr. and Della Hayes Powell. She lived in Louisiana most of her life and moved to Marshall in 2000. Earline, known to most as "Bill", was an educator who loved sharing knowledge with her students. She taught in the public school system in Louisiana for many years, retiring in 1985. She made a difference in the lives of many young people who still express their thoughts. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ina V. Prather; and a brother, Walter C. Powell, Jr. Earline married Norman Arthur Childers on January 28th, 1956. They have three children, Lisa Glorioso (Keith Fletcher), Brian (Barbara Ann) Childers, and Steve (Becky) Childers. She is survived by her husband, Norman Arthur Childers; one sister, Vivian (Alan) Wampler; three children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
