A funeral service for Mr. Eddie Lloyd Powell will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Downs Funeral Home. Interment at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.

Eddie Lloyd Powell was born December 13, 1964. He was the 4th child and the 3rd son of Charles and Loretta Powell. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.   Eddie was a kind and gentle soul who had no problem making and keeping friends. He attended schools in Marshall Independent School District and graduated Marshall High School in 1983. He was a proud   veteran of the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he returned to Marshall, where he worked for many years at both Walmart and Auto Zone. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Powell and daughter, Christina Knighten. He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Doretha Hicks Powell. His loving mother, Loretta Powell. One daughter, Ashley (Darren) Green, stepchildren, Tameka Hicks and Artis Hicks, Jr. His brothers, Charleston Powell, Calvin Powell, Bryan (Sandra) Powell and sisters Rita (Tony) Thomas and Kashon Powell.   Eddie also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will forever miss him.
