Edgar E. Smith was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 21, 1936 to Earl Acton Smith and Nora Lee Liggins Smith. He was a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport. He worked in sales for Caldwell Wholesale retiring on September 15, 1982. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. His greatest pleasure was watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up, and having the house full of family and friends. Edgar enjoyed gardening, tending to the critters, and just piddling. He had an excellent sense of humor, as well as a "sweet tooth", and loved reading, history, and college football, especially the LSU Tigers. Mr. Smith passed away on November 3, 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 6th in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. David Rice officiating. A graveside service will be held later that day at Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 5th at Downs Funeral Home. Survivors are his daughter, Tami Burch and husband Brad; his sons, Christopher Smith, and Stacy Smith and wife Sybil; grandchildren, Joshua Burch and wife Kara, Jessica Lemke and husband Keven, C.J. Smith and wife Jeannie, Sabra Collier and husband Brian, Samantha Schleden and husband Joshua, Sandra Smith, and Stephanie Smith; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Eddie "Bubba" Smith, and granddaughter Shannon Smith.
