A graveside service for Edward Fred "Ed" Oglethorpe Jr. 79, of Marshall, Texas will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at Piney Cemetery with Bro. Craig Evers Officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, March 26, 2018 from 6-8 at Downs Funeral Home.

Edward had a fondness for gospel music, and watching "Jimmy Swaggart" every morning. Edward was an outgoing man and a friend to all. He enjoyed reading his bible, watching his favorite western shows, but nothing compared to the love he had for spending time with his family. He will truly be missed

Mr. Oglethorpe is survived by his children, Jeffery Glenn Clark and spouse Fay, Sheryl Clark, Gary Clark and spouse Nikki, Toni R. Clerk, and Angela Greer; sister, Marie James; 11 grandchildren, Nikole Clark, Jesse Clark, Jacob Oney, Brandon Smith, Rachel Starr, Justin Johnson, Madison Clark, Koby Clark, Susanna Mathews and spouse Clint, Juan (Bubba) Ramos, and Kayle Webb; 11 great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Adam, Madison, Mikayla, Peyton, Ellayna, Jaylee, Daniel, Lena, Hunter, and Mason; nieces, Denise and Anita; Numerous other extended family members and friends.

Mr. Oglethorpe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lena Faye Oglethorpe; parents, Edward Fred Oglethorpe Sr. and spouse, Emily Ruberta Kirkland Oglethorpe; 3 grandchildren, Crystal D. Clark, William D. Johnson, and Dalton Smith; niece, Christie Deason.
