Ed Dean went home to be with his Savior on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 57. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Pete Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Dean Cemetery in Leigh, TX. Ed was born August 31, 1957, to Guy H. Dean, Jr., and Mary Hollis Dean in Marshall, TX. He graduated from Karnack High School in 1976. Ed enjoyed working the cattle, bailing hay or doing anything that involved a tractor and just being on the farm. Ed also enjoyed hunting. Ed is survived by his son Trey Dement; his mother, Mary Dean; his five sisters, Sandra Cullum, Linda Dean, Debbie Ellis and husband Chris, Betty Reese and husband Tony, Brenda Trice and husband Dave; one brother, Joe Dean and wife Tammy. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Dean; brother-in-law, Brandon Cullum; and cousin who was like a brother, Edward Moore. Pallbearers will be Ross Brown, John Cullum, Jim Harris, Tim Jobe, Brad Lins, Tony Reese, Phillip Spain and Dave Trice. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Brown, Chester Hollis and family, Willie "Boo" Scott and Charles Trice. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Good Shepherd Medical Center of Longview that cared for Ed during his hospitalization. A special thanks to HeartsWay Hospice for their care for him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
