Funeral services for Ella Tippens, 70, of Marshall will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 22, 2013, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn's Mt. Zion Cemetery. Sister Ella (Mickey) Tippens was born April 5, 1943 to the late Dock Hurd Sr. and Gracie Brooks Hurd. Ella was born one of four children, and was preceded in death by her father, mother, 2 brothers and a sister. Mickey was educated in Woodlawn Public Schools and H.B. Pemberton High School. At an early age she united with the Starlight Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active member until her untimely death. Mickey departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview, Texas. She leaves to carry on without her a son Johnny Tippens; daughter Patricia Tippens Floyd (Charles); special niece Terri Sparks; 8 grandchildren, Toya Ashleigh, Shanika, Kevin, Damon, Monique, Kiesha, KeAira; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews and special friends.
