Elliott Oran Marks was born September 24, 1976 in Marshall, Texas to the union of Opal Fletcher Marks and Elbert Marks. He departed this life Sunday, July 6, 2014. Elliott attended the Marshall Public Schools and graduated from Marshall High School June 6, 1996. Of all of his secondary school teachers, one he revered most was Mrs. Carolyn Thompson who was his sixth grade teacher. She was the only name he ever mentioned when discussing teachers. He also attended and graduated from Texas State Technical College, where he was recognized and placed on the Dean's List of honor students for the spring term of 2004. This honor is only awarded to those students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5-3.9. He united with the Galilee Baptist Church in 1986 where he was baptized. He was previously employed by the Tyson Food Industry and Woodlawn Manufacturing. He Leaves to cherish the memories of his life, his mother: Opal Fletcher Marks; his father: Elbert Marks; his brother: Elmer O. Marks, all of Marshall, TX. He has a host of cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. A family hour will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 6-8 p.m., at the Downs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mc Johnson Cemetery in Marshall.
