Elmer Jean
White Rawls
Nov 9, 1967 — Dec 29, 2019
Marshall
Elmer Jean White was born in Marshall, Texas on Thursday November 9, 1967 to the late Lula Mae White and named after her late father Elmer James. She accepted Christ at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall, TX as a child and remained an active member until her departure. Elmer was born and raised in Sunny South and known in the community as"Squeaky or Elmer Fudd". She loved singing, crafting and watching movies with family. Elmer was a member of the Class of 1986 of Marshall High School. She also received education from Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. Elmer had several places of employment at a young age but it was when she became an employee of East Texas Open Door (ETOD) that she left her legacy. She was employed at ETOD for twenty-six years and in those years she touched and changed the lives of many young people. There are many young ladies that would say, "If it wasn't for Miss Elmer, I don't know where I would be." In May of 2019, Elmer retired from ETOD and remained connected to both the employees and the youth at the facility.
In 2016, Elmer rekindled her love with Eric Rawls and they later married in October of 2017 and resided in Marshall, TX. In 2007 Elmer was diagnosed with kidney failure and she did not let this stop her from living her best life. She continued to work, love, and provide for her one and only baby, Da'Shaylon. When Elmer loved, she loved hard. She loved her family and friends and she will be deeply missed.
Preceding her in death is parents Lorenzo and Lula White; her sister, Urlinea (Urline) Oliver and grandmother, Mary Jane Oliver.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Eric Rawls; daughter, Da'Shaylon White; her siblings, Prince Brown, Mary (Frank) Johnson, Ester (Walter) James, Paul White, Herbert (Patriece) White. Also left to cherish her memories are her aunts, Mary Oliver and Hula McClendon of San Francisco, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fur-babies (King & Prince), Sunny South community, ETOD family and friends.
