Funeral services for Eloise Peak Lewis, 92, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home of Marshall with Bro. Aaron Bequette officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Lewis passed away March 8, 2015, in Carthage. Eloise Peak Lewis was born December 22, 1922, in Vivian, Louisiana, to Joseph David Peak and Marguerite Wells Peak. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waskom, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and an excellent cook. Mrs. Lewis loved to read, do crossword puzzles and fish. Surviving Mrs. Lewis are her children, Luellyn Bates and husband Scotty of Atlanta, TX, Nolan Lewis and wife Sherlene of Horn Lake, MS; sister, Beverly Hayes of Jonesville, TX; 5 grandchildren, Curt Bates and wife Kendra, Stewart Bates and wife Robin, David Lewis and wife Kirby, Alison Lewis and Nathaniel Lewis; 3 great granddaughters, Claire, Alison and Ada; and other extended family and friends. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, K.P. Lewis; 2 brothers, J.D. Peak and John Peak; and 1 sister, Gloria Warbritton. Pallbearers will be Curt Bates, Stewart Bates, Matt Hall, David Lewis, Nathaniel Lewis and Jerry Womack. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Bates, Leslie Bradshaw, Ronnie Ferrell, Gary Hall, Kenneth Hayes and Johnny Miller. The family would like to give a special thanks to Briarcliff Nursing Home and HeartsWay Hospice for their care of Mrs. Lewis.
