Emma Joyce "Cookie" Jarrell, 83, of Waskom, Texas passed away on April 16, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas.

Emma was born on September 7, 1941, in Marshall, Texas to Albert Edward Hughes and Emma Lou Britton Hughes.

She married Fred Lewis Jarrell on February 23, 1962, in Marshall, Texas and the two remained married until his passing. She worked at the Texas Livestock Commission and for Lewis Engineering until 1983. From 1983 until 2004 she worked on and ran the Jarrell Jersey Dairy Farm. She took care of any sick animal on the farm and made sure everything was perfectly running each morning. Her cows were well loved and met the standards of the Promise Land milk and she was very proud of that. She was crazy about animals and loved her dogs. She started with the Fire Department in 2007 and was an advanced EMT and she kept all their records. She won the EMT of the Year Award in 2015. She also enjoyed going to the Willis Knighton Gym. Most of all she loved Ashley, Kirby and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Emma Hughes; her husband, Fred Jarrell; son, Todd Jarrell; brothers, Gary Dean Hughes and Robert Edward Hughes and sister, Dolly Jean Fyffe.

She is survived by her son, Kirby Jarrell and wife, Lisa; sister, Linda Prouty; granddaughter, Ashley Jarrell and husband, Kole Broussard and great granddaughter, Ainsley Broussard along with her best friends, Brenda Wilkins and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Waskom Fire Department.
