Emma Louise "Jill" Hicks was born to Sam Payton and Rosie Nell Brooks Payton on August 31, 1944. After a journey of 75 years, she left this earthly home on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

She was united in matrimony to Henry Selcer Hicks on May 23, 1960 and to this union 6 children were born, Henry, Jr., Debra, Angela, Chris, and Niko. Her son, Henry, Jr. and a infant daughter, Teresa J. Hicks preceded her in death.

Jill's first love was that of her family and providing for their care. After attending school in the Marshall Independent School District, she worked for several companies including Thiokol in Karnack, Texas. Emma was a member of Will of God Family Ministries where she attended Sunday School and worshiped until her health permitted her from doing so.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Rosie Nell Payton; husband, Henry Sr.; son, Henry Jr.; brother, Ricky; infant daughter, Teresa J. Hicks. She is survived by her remaining children, Debra (Tyrone) William, Angela (Charles) Jones, Niko Hicks, and Chris Hicks; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Rosie Braham; nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
