Obituary

A Graveside Funeral Service for Fern Byassee, 94, of Marshall will be held at 3:00p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Byassee Family Cemetery, Woodlawn, Texas. Ms. Byassee passed away April 08, 2017 in Corinth, Texas with her loving family by her side.

Fern Breshears Byassee was born in Arkansas on August 12, 1922 to Will Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Breshears. She resided in California for a short time and moved to Marshall in 1957 where she would reside until 2000. Fern or Miss Fannie, as she was loving called by many, had a big personality, a kind spirit, and a loving heart. She enjoyed many hobbies; among them were quilting and crewel embroidery. She also enjoyed chasing ants from her yard doing whatever it took to get rid of the pesky critters. Miss Fannie had her own shotgun, and she knew how to use it. Crows didn't stay long around the Byassee home, because Miss Fannie was sure to shoot them. She loved her goats and took very good care of them. Watching the wildlife around her home was among her favorite pastimes. Before her health deteriorated she loved telling stories and some of the stories were quite humorous; one in particular was a story she told about killing a bear. Fern, Miss Fannie, was full of life and love. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer Redmond and husband, Al; son, Jon Rush Byassee and wife, Becky; sister, Maxine Lundbeck; brother, Keith Breshears; grandchildren, Billy Shawn Byassee and wife, Stacy, Jason Byassee, Eric Al Redmond and wife, Michele; great-grandchildren, Shawn Ross Byassee, Avery Loryn Byassee; Emily Grace Byassee, Matthew Rush Redmond, Mason Donahue Redmond, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Preceding Fern in death are her parents, Will and Mary Breshears; her loving husband, Billy S. Byassee; and a son, H.L. Byassee.
