A funeral service for Frances "Nanny" George, 94, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Seeley and Bro. Don Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Harleton, Texas. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home.

Frances was born on July 13, 1927, in Karnack, Texas to the late Joseph E. Moore and Mary Jane Deen Moore and passed away on May 23, 2022, at her home in Marshall, Texas.

She married Raburn Lane George, Sr. on February 20, 1943, in Marshall, Texas and the two remained married until his death. She worked at the Blue Buckle for 12 years and Lewis Engineering Co. for 7 years before retiring. She was a member of Nesbitt Baptist Church for many years. In her younger years she loved to fish. She loved gardening, riding her zero-turn mower and taking care of the yard, working in the church and cooking for her family. Most of all she loved all of her family and grandchildren and having family get togethers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. and Mary Jane Moore; husband, Raburn L. George, Sr.; sons, Walter Ray George and Donnie Joe George; daughter-in-law, Nellie George; sisters, Marie Weaver and Edna Foshee and brothers, Donald Moore and Bubby Moore.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raburn L. George, Jr. "Pete" and spouse, Mary Clyde; grandchildren, Donald George and spouse, Suzy, Darrell George, Kevin George and spouse, Nicole, Keith George and spouse, Kristi; 9 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great great grandchild; sisters, Mable Bagley, Shirley Gage and Virginia Koerner along with numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Golden Oldies at Nesbitt Baptist Church.
