Francis "Frank" Gale Rothgeb Memorial services for Mr. Francis "Frank" Gale Rothgeb, 64 of Gator Lodge, Jefferson, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday September 24, 2011 at Smithland Methodist Church in Smithland, Texas with Rev. Allison Beverly officiating. Frank was born November 14, 1946 in Hoagland, Indiana and passed away September 18, 2011 in Longview, Texas. Frank was an impressive hunter and a good one. He delighted in showing photos of ducks, deer, bobcats, Arkansas razorbacks, and other animals that he had harvested in the woods and on Caddo Lake. His hunting and fishing made Frank a keen observer of nature. He instinctively knew the time of year certain fish would be running, when certain species of ducks would arrive at the lake, and of course, the seasonal cycles for the all important deer hunt. And for sure, he loved those crazy Labrador Retrievers. Frank was forged in the northern climes where hardy individuals have a tough edge. But he slowly became a southern gentleman, and Lize had something to do with that aspect of his life. God knew that Frank was going to have a rough go of it in the future, and the fortuitously brought Lize into his life at the right time. Frank pushed Lize into following her dream and open Gator Lodge, and that is his lasting legacy. Surviving Frank are his wife Lize Browning Rothgeb, daughter, Alisha Canela and son Mark Scully. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ryan Perez, Marisol and Bella Lopez, and Josh Scully. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity or to Smithland Methodist Church.
