Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we share the loss of our son, brother and friend, Gage Lee Broomall. Gage was born on the morning of June 15th, 2006, in Show Low, Arizona to parents Matthew and Ashley Broomall. He spent the first four years of his life on Sunflower Drive in Overgaard, Arizona, where he loved to catch bugs, play in puddles, drive his blue side-by-side and make trips to the park with his mom and his little "Dudda,", Garrett. He developed a tender heart early on for God's creations and kept that love for the rest of his life.

His family moved to Hallsville, Texas in September of 2010. There, their family would continue to grow, making Gage the big brother to Garrett, Kelsie and Adelynn. He loved each of his siblings dearly and they loved him in return.

Soon after moving, Gage was enrolled in Little Cats preschool. He would remain a student in Hallsville School District until his graduation in May of 2024. As a young boy, Gage played on many recreational sports teams. He enjoyed learning each one and challenging himself in new ways. In 7th grade, he joined the cross-country team at school. His first season was not spectacular to anyone other than those who knew him well. He didn't start out as a naturally gifted long-distance runner, but he persisted on through junior high, and by the end of his freshman season he had made such improvement on his times that he was invited to run on the varsity team. He earned his cross-country letter his freshman year and, in his very humble and quiet way, was proud of himself. He would go on to join the track team his freshman year as well, where he found a love for mid-distance running. He built many close friendships with his coaches and teammates during his time in track and cross country. Before the end of his high school running career, he set a school record for the 800-meter run. Despite having a very promising senior season, Gage's goal of making it to the State Championships was cut short by a devastating mid-season injury.

By the end of high school, Gage had collected a close group of friends. His time spent with them was important to him and they were all accepted into our home as family. He loved them.

In the spring of 2023, Gage started dating the love of his life, Alexis Noemi Guzman. The two had known each other through their years at school but formed a bond over the next two and a half years that was admired by all who knew them. They had plans to build a life together. Gage had a lot of questions about what his future would look like, but one thing he didn't question was that it would include her.

Upon graduating, Gage accepted an offer from Odessa College for a full-ride scholarship to run cross country and track. He began his college running career in August of 2024. Some highlights of his freshman year were running with his team at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships as well as the NJCAA Indoor Track National Championship where he earned his title of All-American in the Distance Medley Relay. Gage was also a dedicated student who worked hard and kept good grades. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Gage's life, though incredibly short, was inspiring to so many. He embodied Paul's description of charity, the pure love of Christ. He is remembered for his gentle spirit, his kindness to everyone he met, his sense of adventure and the way he fully committed himself to everything he pursued. He was a talented athlete who placed great importance on his health. He was disciplined in every way. He was a loyal friend who valued his connections with people.

Gage was a wonderful son and a vital part of our family. The void that has been felt since he passed is long and wide. He filled our lives with light, laughter, joy and pride. Along with his parents, siblings and girlfriend, his absence has been deeply mourned by his many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, teachers and coaches. Imagining a world without him seems impossible, but we cling to the hope that we find in our Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to the day that we will be with him again.
