A graveside service for Gene "Pappy" Brown will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Algoma North Cemetery. Bro. Paul Vickers will officiate the service. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Downs Funeral Home.

Gene "Pappy" Brown, 88, of Marshall, Texas was born on January 22, 1932 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to his parents, David Albert Brown and Annie Mae Eppwright. Mr. Brown passed away at his family home on January 6, 2021. Mr. Brown was a deacon of Victory Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sharon Temple in Tyler and the Marshall Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. To know Mr. Brown was to love him, he was always serving others and loved doing it. He was the most selfless man you could ever meet. Mr. Brown was a jack of all trades; he could do just about anything he set his mind to. Above all, he was a family man, he was devoted to his family, being a husband, father and a "Pappy".

Mr. Brown is survived by his son, Anthony "Tony" Brown and spouse, Leilani; daughter, Susan Leigh Brown; grandson, J. Aaron Brown and spouse, Nicole; granddaughters, Shelbey Leigh Power, and Brooke Power and great-grandson, Gatlin Drake Meyer. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mr. Brown is preceded in death with open arms by his loving wife, Cleta Joyce Willborn Brown; parents, David Albert Brown and spouse, Annie Mae; child, Lisa Suzanne Brown; his two brothers and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family of Mr. Brown have asked that any donations be made to your preferred church or charity of choice.
