A memorial service for George Gregory, 76, of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday February 4, 2017 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Peter Allen officiating. Mr. Gregory passed away January 29, 2017.

George Gregory was born October 16, 1940 in Spaulding Co., Georgia to James Lee Gregory and Jessie Mae Long Gregory. George served his country in the United States Air Force. He would jump through hoops for anyone who needed him and was a proud father and grandfather. George loved the Dallas Cowboys, boxing and little league baseball as well as watching Wheel of Fortune and reading Country and Western books. He also loved the horse races, casinos and just being outdoors working. He retired in October of 2006 from General Motors where he was a heavy man for 30 years. George was most proud of being a recovering alcoholic for 40 years.

Surviving George are daughters, Kathleen Mitchell and husband Kevin and Sharon Pardue and husband Ewell; grandchildren, Casey Wyatt, Nathaniel Harris, Christopher Harris, Thomas Lopez and Sarah Pardue; great-grandchildren, Caleb Wyatt and Keegan Wyatt; brothers, M.L. Gregory and wife Virginia and Grady Gregory and Susan Fullerton; one sister, Ruth Scott and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.W. Gregory.
