Graveside services for Gerald H. Stringer, 65, of Elysian Fields will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Ford Cemetery in Newton, Texas. Mr. Stringer passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 in Elysian Fields. Mr. Stringer was born August 1, 1946 in Jasper, TX to Hollis Albert and Opal Jordan Stringer. He was a Baptist, and a heavy equipment mechanic for Sam Vaughn at C & S Service Supply. He and Bonnie Stark Stringer were married on January 16, 1970. Mr. Stringer served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved his horses and other animals, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. Stringer is survived by his wife, Bonnie Stark Stringer of Elysian Fields; daughter, Wendy and Jeremy Murphrey of Houston; mother, Opal Phelps of Jasper; sisters, Glenda and Johnny Love of Burkeville, TX, Sheila Bragg of Kirbyville, TX and Kathy Wood of Corrigan, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nita and Roy Smith of Newton, TX.
