Funeral services for Gladys Juanita Manross, 88, of Waskom, TX, will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Pastor Sheryl Stiles officiating. Interment will follow in Algoma North Cemetery in Marshall. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Manross passed away June 19, 2014 at her home. Gladys Juanita Bevers Manross was born June 10, 1926 in Justiceburg, TX to Earnest Valentine and Gladys Lucille Melton Bevers. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Marshall. Mrs. Manross is survived by her children, Earnest Allen Samples and wife Dorthy Jean of Bellville, TX, Goldie Devee Weaver of Granbury, TX, Virginia Darlene McPherson and husband Horace L. of Clute, TX and Linda Kiser and husband Mark of Waskom, TX; sister Sue Johnson and husband Joe Don of Levelland, TX; 24 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; a number of nieces, nephews; and a number of great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Manross was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Samples, husband George Manross; children, James Samples, Vernetta "Cookie" Samples and Vivian Nell Carter. Mrs. Manross' grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
