Gloria Lueker
Hayes
Mar 23, 1943 — Sep 27, 2026
Cabot
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Gloria Lueker Hayes, who passed peacefully at her home on September 27, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1943, in the little brick house behind her parents' station on Highway 80 in Waskom, Texas.
Shopping was one of Gloria's favorite pastimes, but it was never about the purses, shoes, jewelry, or clothes she brought home. It was about the people she met along the way, the conversations she shared, the laughter she enjoyed, and the memories she created. Thursdays were especially dear to her. After having her hair done by her longtime hairdresser, Lindy Bass, who cared for her for over 30 years, she would head to the mall, enjoy browsing the stores, and finish the day with an early dinner. Her nails were always beautifully painted, and she loved looking her best.
Gloria stayed home raising three girls and taking care of the many businesses that she and Norman had along the way.
Gloria was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Kathleen Lueker, sister Sharon Lueker, brother H.D. (Butch) Lueker, loving husband Norman E. Hayes, infant daughter Angela Kay Hayes, and grandson Jonathan Pepper.
She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly: her children, Teri Winn, Lisa McBrayer (Terry), and Ginny Marshall (Lindsay); her grandchildren, Stephanie Lasseigne (Ryan), Alex McBrayer (Reece), and Peyton Thomas (Samantha); and her great-grandchildren, Jordan Swanson and William Swanson.
A private graveside service will be held at Restland Cemetery in Waskom, Texas. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Gloria's life at one of her favorite local Mexican restaurants.
We will remember Gloria for her beautiful smile, her love of family, her vibrant spirit, and her ability to make every outing feel like an adventure. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
