A Celebration of Life for Gloria Joyce Moore, 72, of Karnack, Texas will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Antioch Cemetery, Leigh, Texas. Mrs. Moore passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 in Tyler, Texas.

Gloria Joyce Lewis Moore was born November 13, 1944 to William and Lizzie B. Lewis, Sr, in Karnack, Texas. On January 22, 1960 Gloria Lewis united in marriage with Pamie Moore, Jr, her one and only love. To this union six children were born. Gloria was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first and often showed her love through cooking. Gloria was a great cook who was well known for the best hot water cornbread and her famous bar-b-que sauce that won 1st place in a competition in Austin, Texas.

Gloria was a member of Rehoboth Primitive Baptist Church, where she was baptized. There she volunteered and served in any capacity, especially the kitchen where she could show her love by cooking some of the best food.

For many years she worked at the Austin State School and as an Avon representative. While selling for Avon she may have been her own number 1 customer. Gloria was known to buy more product from herself than she sold to others.

Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be remembered for good food, a great personality and her loving spirit.

Those left to cherish the many memories of Gloria Joyce Moore is her husband of 57 years, Pamie Moore, Jr; son, Michael Andrew Moore and wife, Sherry; son, Pamie Moore, III; daughter, Terry Ann Warren and husband, Maurice; daughter, Tonia Evette Moore; daughter, Gloria Jean Moore; and son, Anthony LaMont Moore and wife, Heather; brothers, Freddie Lewis, Jimmy Lewis (Sandy), Frank Newhouse, Sr, John Oliver (Cinderella), William "Slick" Lewis (Doris); sisters, Diane Lewis and Helen McDonald. Also surviving Gloria are her 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends.

Welcoming Gloria to Heaven with open arms are her parents, William and Lizzie Lewis, Sr; 1 sister, 1 niece and 4 brothers.
