Guy Andre' Porter was called home to peace everlasting on February 12, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Guy, affectionately known as "GAP" was born February 17, 1960 in Los Angeles , California to the parentage of Gid and Johnetta Porter who preceded him in death. He was the youngest male of this union which produced 15 children and twin boys of a dynamic duo Gay and Guy.

The majority of his childhood was spent in Karnack, Texas along with 13 siblings which accounted for a beautiful fun filled upbringing. He completed his high school curriculum at Karnack High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served faithfully there and went on to work in several laborer type capacitates. In 1992 he married Shannon Robertson. To this union no children were born, which had no bearing on the love that they shared.

Guy was a lover of life and people and his lifestyle exhibited that. His hobbies included watching T.V. and movies, reading, sports, cooking and spending time with family. He declared himself to be the Domino Champion of the Southwest and was constantly proving that point, calling himself a "Dominologist". He dearly loved his family and proved supportive whenever a situation presented itself. He accepted Christ as a young adult and depended on his faith, especially during his personal challenges.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eunice Hutton and Latonya Porter; brothers, Raymond "Bookie" Murphey, Glen Porter and Michael Porter. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and caring wife of 24 years, Shannon Porter; five sisters, Nancy Powell, Jan Simon, Robin (Frank) O'Neal, Gay Porter, and Gerri (George) Pinson; four brothers, Donald Porter, Gregory Porter, Gid Porter and Scott Porter; his mother-in-law, Johnnie Robertson; brothers-in-law, McKinley Robertson, Richard Robertson and Cedric Robertson; godson, Alex Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

We will honor Guy in our future years by loving each other and people the way he and more importantly, God Commands us to. To God be glory!
