Obituary

Hans Mullikin, our beloved friend, uncle, brother, husband, and grandfather went to be with the Jesus he loved on this Easter Sunday past, April 5, 2015. Hans was preceded in death by his father, Dee Mullikin and mother Estelle Rives Mullikin, who he loved greatly and who blessed and guided him all his life by their love, biblical instruction, and the discipleship they exampled in their lives. Hans is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Mullikin whom he adored, prayed for, and married on his 64th birthday in 2003 after years of praying for God to send him the love of his life. Hans is also survived by step-children Bryan McCracken of Dallas, Laura Wood & husband Chris Wood of Marshall; grand-children, Parker & Emily Wood of Tyler, Darby & Austen Shankle & Joshua Wood of Marshall; brothers, Keats & wife Becky Mullikin of Karnack, Kent & wife Sandy Mullikin of Hallsville; sisters, Simmie Dean Bratcher of Houston, Marteal Mullikin-Mankin of Corpus Christi; and many loved nieces and nephews who were very special to him. His nephews, Hunter Mullikin, Rokky Mullikin, Micah Bratcher, Toby Mullikin, and Josh Mankin will serve as pallbearers. Hans graduated from East Texas Baptist College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Religion with a minor in Phys. Ed. Hans also proudly served in the United States Air Force. As a man of many talents, Hans traveled and worked in many parts of the country. Hans had varying jobs throughout his life as varied as church song leader, logger, hair stylist, and ranch foreman. Hans loved the adventure of meeting people almost as much as discussing his faith with them. Willing to go wherever the Spirit of God led him, he crawled on his hands and knees for 1600 miles in 32 months from Marshall, TX to Washington, DC in an effort to "call our nation back to Him" and to convince his fellow countrymen to spend time on their knees in prayer to "Save Our Nation". With the S.O.N. ministry he was able to meet hundreds of people, sharing his love of Christ with them and leading many to salvation. Humbly, he rarely spoke of it, but he considered it a great privilege to have been used in such a way by God to reach His people. Receiving of friends will be on Friday, April 10th at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall, TX. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00PM. The service will be led by Pastor Ray Wilson at 2:00PM in the chapel, with burial following at New Grover Cemetery just outside of Marshall. Hans had a great love of animals, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society.
