Obituary

A Memorial Service honoring the life of Harold "Dean" Haigwood, 82 of Marshall, Texas will be held at 5:00pm Friday, November 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Haigwood passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday, November 1, 2015. Harold Dean Haigwood was born in the hills outside Batesville, Arkansas on March 14, 1933 to Dean and Evelyn Haigwood. Growing up in the hills of northern Arkansas, Dean was one of those kids that lived the story of walking to school in the snow. After graduation he joined the United States Navy serving his country during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea, he began working as a home builder and continued doing this the rest of his life, until his health would no longer allow it. He was a faithful mason and member of Marshall Mason Lodge #22 and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Marshall. Dean loved people and enjoyed telling them about flying and his travels. Over the years he shared and made many memories with his best friend, Jack Davis. Dean Haigwood married the love of his life, Mickey Hart-Haigwood. They spent the last 31 years loving and caring for one another. Those left to cherish his memory are his children who he loved dearly; Deann, Angela, Dawn, and two stepsons, Barry Hart and wife, Ann, and Scott Hart and wife, Donna. He is preceded in death by his parents.
