Obituary

Harold Walter McArthur, Jr., age 74, of Karnack, Tx passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Harold was born on October 4, 1950, in Winston County, Mississippi, to Harold Walter McArthur, Sr. and Dairee Wilson Miles. He was married to Judy Uselton McArthur for 24 years. After graduation from Bay Springs High School, Mississippi, he completed a two-year course of study at ECCC, Scooba, Mississippi. Immediately upon graduating, he went to work at Puckett Machinery, Meridian, MS, where he worked his way up to service manager. He became very knowledgeable and respected in his field. Later the lure of the West and a job offer from John Deere Tractor brought him to Texas, where he would make a home for the rest of his life. Then a new adventure came his way. He purchased a convenience store in Leigh, Tx, McArthur's Corner Grocery, where he loved meeting the community. He made many friends, many of whom shared his love of horses, roping and ranching. During this time, he was offered a teaching position by TSTC to teach diesel mechanics. This job quickly became his dream job. He loved being able to train and influence young and upcoming mechanics in his field of diesel technology. Many of those young men stayed in touch with him as he became a mentor to them as well as a friend. Then another opportunity came his way, and he gave up teaching to pursue a more lucrative career with Chesapeake Oil Co., where he worked until he retired.

He spent so much of his childhood on his grandfather's farm and came to love the farm life; he loved animals; he especially loved horses, and he could often be found during his free time roping and working with his horse. Harold also loved the Presbyterian Church and supported it passionately. He was proud that the McArthurs were staunch Presbyterians who brought their faith with them when they immigrated from Scottland. He loved his church Grace Fellowship where he was a member.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy; his sons, Hal McArthur (Sonya) and Brian McArthur, Kyle Uselton (Jinni), Kevin Uselton and Kory Uselton; his stepmother, Mearl McArthur; his siblings, Linda McArthur Cook (Ricky), Debra McArthur Ishee (Mark) and David McArthur and wife, Betty; John Richard McArthur, an uncle and lifelong friend; one aunt, Margaret McArthur Rice; grandchildren, Brianna Hill, Tony Ratcliff (Faith), Brynleigh McArthur, Levi Uselton, Reed Uselton and Alex Brown; great grandchildren, Stetson, Sutton, Grayson, Hazel and Halle and a host of nieces and nephews whom he always enjoyed along with other family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Vincent and Rev. Weston Blaha officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
