Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Harold Hill, age 86, who departed this life on January 9, 2026, peacefully at his residence in Longview, Texas.

Harold was born on March 23, 1939, in Woodlawn, Texas. A man of strong principles and unwavering integrity, Harold lived a life guided by honor, service, and devotion to family. He was a proud and dedicated Master Mason, having served as Past Master of Ashland Lodge #1138 in Diana, Texas, and was also a longtime member of James F. Taylor Lodge #169 in Hallsville, Texas. Freemasonry was an important part of Harold's life, and he deeply valued the brotherhood, moral teachings, and charitable service it represented. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 33 years of service.

Beyond his Masonic service, Harold found great peace in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent in the woods and on the water. These pursuits reflected his love of nature and provided many cherished moments shared with family and friends.

Harold was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud patriarch whose legacy lives on through the many generations of his family. He was known for his steady presence, quiet wisdom, and willingness to help others. His example of strength, humility, and dedication will not be forgotten.

Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Stella Hill; his daughters, Terrie Hill of Hallsville, Texas, and Tanya Hill of Longview, Texas; and his sons, Michael Hill and wife Alison of Hallsville, Texas, John Maddox of Longview, Texas, and Keith Brown of Marshall, Texas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his siblings: Ann Lefler and husband Bobby of Blue Mountain, Mississippi; Billy Hill and wife Linda of Woodlawn, Texas; Leon Hill and wife Maurise of Marshall, Texas; Ginger Gordon of Marshall, Texas; Bitha Lovelady and husband Allen of Lufkin, Texas; and Scott Hill of Marshall, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, L. D. Hill and Myrtis Green; his brothers, Lowell Hill and Paul Hill; his son, Danny Hill; and his grandson, Canaan Hampton.
