A Funeral Service for Helen Guffey, 82, of Marshall will be held at 10:00am Friday, June 24, 2016 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Nesbitt Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Downs Funeral Home. Ms. Guffey passed away at her home Tuesday, June 21, 2016.

Helen Guffey was born June 22, 1933 to Elvie and Flora Ola Jenkins in Avinger, Texas. Helen was happy to have lived her entire life in North East Texas. Helen married Valton Guffey at a young age. Together they raised a large loving family here in the Piney Woods of East Texas. In her free time, Helen enjoyed sewing and hand crochet. She loved to crochet personal items for children with cancer. She also enjoyed gardening and helping people in need.

Surviving Helen are her seven children and their spouses, Jerry Ragsdell and wife, Rosemary, Patricia Gaines and husband, Larry, Michael Guffey and wife, Lee Ann, Michelle Perez and husband, Jose, Mitchell Guffey and wife, Canddie, Lonnie Guffey and wife, Charolette, Rhory Mason and husband, Duane; thirteen grandchildren, Jada, Bubba, Kaci, Chris, Matthew, Haliana, Ariana, Orion, Kaylee, Kala, Melinda, Mikey, and Daniel; six great-grandchildren, Sadie, Drake, Luis, Zane, Hunter, and Christian as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Valton Guffey; grandchildren, James Ragsdell and Marjorie Ragsdell and two sisters.
