A funeral service for Mrs. Helen Mills will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Downs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Helen Mills was born May 21, 1927 in Smithland, Texas. She was born to the parents of Janie Williams Wilson and Verge Wilson. After the passing of her parents, she moved to Jefferson, Texas where she was raised by her late aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Mills received her education from Macedonia Public High School. She united with the Macedonia Methodist Church at an early age, where she remained until her health failed. She married Eddie Mills, Sr. in May of 1957. They were married for 30 years when Mr. Mills passed away. Mrs. Mills was a homemaker, she enjoyed her family, sweeping her yard, and walking wherever she needed to go. Mrs. Mills never had a bad thing to say about anyone. You could always count on her to lend a helping hand. Her memory and mind remained sharp into her golden years. She has always been a sweet lady. To have known her is to love her. This is just a glimpse of why she will always be our Queen.

Mrs. Mills is survived by Alice Clay and spouse, Jonathan of Atlanta, GA, Bruce Mills of Marshall, TX, LaDeane Alexander and spouse, Gerald of Marshall, TX, Gregory Mills of  Marshall, TX, 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mills is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Mills, Sr., son, Eddie Lee Mills, Jr., daughter, Eddie Jane Mills, brother, John Harmon Wilson, two sisters, Rosetta Owens and Pearlie Knox, and grandson, Joseph Clay.

Tribute to My Mom

My mom will always be "The Best Lady" she not only taught me how to live but she lived and let me watch her do it. She gave me the greatest gift a mother could give her child and that is a great example. Mom you fought a good fight and finished your course,
