Funeral services for Howard Lee Jernigan, 57 of Elysian Fields will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday February 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis Cemetery in Elysian Fields. A wake service will be held at 7p.m., Friday February 25, 2011 at the funeral home. Mr. Jernigan passed away Saturday February 19, 2011 at his home. Howard Lee Jernigan was born October 2, 1953 in Dallas to Beulah and the late Rev. Lee Bob Jernigan of Elysian Fields/Dallas. He was a member of Moriah Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Jernigan are his wife, Diane Jernigan of Elysian Fields; mother Beulah Jernigan of Harrison County; step- children, Cynthia Perkins of Harrison County, Michelle Carter and Brandon Carter both of Lewisville; adopted son, Duane Jernigan of Marshall; sisters Vivian Lewis, Kimberly Jernigan and twin sister Helen Renee Morgan and husband Al of Troy; nephews, Benjamin Lewis III of Dallas and Jamal Plant of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his father and his step-brother, Michael Davis.
