Visitation with family and friends will take place Monday, November 07, 2016 at Downs Funeral Home from 6:00p.m to 8:00p.m. Ms. Kemper passed away Sunday, November 06, 2016 in Marshall.

Huberta Kemper was born May 25, 1924 in Wilbarger County to Hubert B. and Juanita Hendrick. She entered into heaven and rejoined her loved ones on November 6, 2016 surrounded by her family.

She attended school in her early years in Shamrock, Texas, and upon her graduation from high school, entered Parkland School of Nursing In Dallas, Texas. There, she met a young medical student, Dr. Thomas Kemper, and, together, they spent 56 years of marriage.  He preceded her in death in December of 2000. Also preceding her in death are her parents, and five infant brothers and sisters.

Mother embodied all that was good and pure. She never met a stranger, was a consummate caregiver, witty, willing, enthusiastic, loving, devoted to prayer and her prayer journal, her BIBLE, her family, and friends.  She is remembered by ALL HER FAMILY for her catch phrase: DTEYK……which is an acronym for DON'T TELL EVERYTHING YOU KNOW.  This was attached to all her secret messages and surprises that all received at one time or another.

She was very active in the Medical Auxiliary affiliated with the Harrison County Medical Society. Each year, at Christmas, for many years, she and her band of ladies lovingly sewed large stockings for all the new babies at the hospital to be carried in when they left the hospital.

She was delighted with each holiday…..EACH HOLIDAY….and would see that everyone congregated, usually at her house, for each and every one of them. Christmas was always her favorite.  Her life was the embodiment of "It's a Wonderful Life".

She loved to play bridge, and was a member of a bridge club until just the last several years. She played tournament golf, played a mean game of tennis, rode her bicycle with her neighborhood buddies, and always had a freezer-full of ice cream.

She was a devoted Christian, giving that same devotion to all she encountered, especially her children, THEIR children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her touch exemplified gentleness and kindness, and she shared that often.  With every breath she took she exuded character, a work ethic, and embraced all that she loved.

She is survived by her children, Sue Kemper Boyd (Dick), Tommy/Tuck Kemper (Sally), Kathy Kemper (Jim Pyle), Jerry Kemper (Kelly). Her grandchildren, Stacy Barry (Mike), Allison McEacharn (Mac), Bruce Boyd (Kristy), Chris Kemper, Kelly Kemper Beck, Jill McDougald (Kevin), Richard Hall (Mallory), Ben Kemper (Kristi), and Bonnye Kemper Nance (Aaron).  Her great-grandchildren include, Carson, Blair, Logan, Emerson, Mason, Riley, Reid, Taryn, Matthew, Kemper, Ava Grace, Mary Hannah, Meredith, Kyle, and Vail.  Also surviving Miss Bert is her sister, Addalene Leith; her nieces and nephew, Phil, Nita, and Lisa and their children and grandchildren.  She is also survived by an aunt, Bea (Bill) Robinson, and cousins, Lou, Don, Jo, Lavelle, and Dan. Other family are Valerie Washington, Linda Holiday, and Susan and John Bogue.

Her list of friends is unending, but she would love to TRY to list them all.
