Imogene McCarty was born February 21, 1930, in Harlton, Texas. Mrs. McCarty passed away at her home in Marshall, Texas on June 28, 2023. A time of visitation will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home. A private family service will be held.

Mrs. McCarty graduated in May 1948, she went to work at Joe Weisman department store after graduation. She attended Mary's Business Academy and worked at McCarty Flowertime Florist. She retired from Harrison County Sheriffs Department. Imogene married her loving husband, William Russell McCarty, in 1950.

Mrs. McCarty enjoyed a number of hobbies. She loved to read, paint, and spend time outdoors in her flower beds. She spent many hours studying her Bible and was a faithful member of Belair Baptist Church, where she taught SS and GA's. She later became a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. McCarty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Russell McCarty; granddaughter Jeannie Kay Rowley; 2 sisters and 1 brother.

She is survived by her children, William Herbert McCarty and spouse JoAnn, Elizabeth Ann Grogan and spouse Timothy Patrick Grogan, David Matthison McCarty and spouse Vicki; grandchildren, Stacie Greer and spouse Mark, Steve McCarty and spouse Krista, Russell Taylor McCarty and spouse Melissa, Kristina Talasek and spouse Steven, Gena Elizabeth Rowley, Virginia Deen Rowley, Bonnie Renee Rowley, Lisa Knucklos and spouse Mark, Patrick Grogan, Brett Grogan ; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
