A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of James S. Boyd, Sr., 76 of Waskom, TX will be held at 11:00am Monday, November 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home, Marshall, TX with Rev. Darrell White officiating. Mr. Boyd passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. James S. Boyd, Sr. was born May 10, 1939 to Ed Franklin and Effie LaVerne Boyd in Sibley, LA. In October of 1963, James married the love of his life, Wini Hickey. Together, they raised three children that James loved dearly. During his working years, James served many in his community as an Auto Technology Teacher, Service Manager for Moffett Volkswagen of Bossier and as an auxiliary Policeman for the city of Shreveport. James thoroughly enjoyed working on cars. He is survived by his loving wife, Wini; son, Stan Boyd and wife, Sherry of Waskom; daughter, Kelly Alford and husband, Chris of Marshall; daughter, Angel Botzong and husband, Glenn of Jonesville; "adopted son, Alex Prather" of Marshall; three sisters, Helen Chandler and husband, Doyle; Verna Chandler and husband, Vernon; and Nora Griffis and husband, Frank; eight grandchildren, Matt Alford and wife, Niki; Marshal Alford and wife, Jessica; Hillary Wisk and husband, Larry; Jason Roberts and wife, April; Jarred Roberts; Russell Gallion; Robert Botzong; Courtney Botzong; and 7 great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
