Funeral services for James Russell Else, 74, of Marshall, Texas, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. John Potier officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at Downs Funeral Home. Mr. Else passed away October 10, 2014 in Marshall, TX. James Russell Else was born December 8, 1939 in Marshall, TX to Oscar Else and Lee Vester Roberts. James accepted Christ at an early age and later accepted The Truth as one of Jehovah's Witnesses later in life. James attended Marshall Public Schools, H.B. Pemberton High School and later joined the armed services, serving proudly in the United States Army. In November of 1964, he entered into holy matrimony with Alene Moore. This glorious union spanned over fifty years, where he, Alene and their beautiful daughter Louise shared many wonderful years. James "Leo" as he was lovingly known, accepted this lovely pair as his family and cherished this union until Louise preceded him in death in 2009. Mr. Else worked as a supervisor at Monarch Tile for many years and later was employed at R.L. Lacy in Longview, TX as an administrative courier until he retired. James was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mrs. Lee Vester Roberts and Oscar Else; and two brothers, Billy Fred Else and Billy Ray Else. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Alene Else and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
