James "David"
Gatton
Apr 6, 1978 — Oct 22, 2020
David Gatton was born on April 6, 1978 in Coffeyville, KS. He was raised in East Texas, and then went on to live and work in Mason, Texas. Funeral Services for Mr. Gatton will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 2:00p.m. at Downs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Downs Funeral Home.
David is survived by his mother, Janet Key, and her partner Charles Mayo, his brother Brent Key and wife, Michelle, and their daughter Abigail, his sister Jessica Key and daughter Jamie, sister Amber Hurd and husband Corey, and their daughter Winter, sister Charla Dumas, his grandparents James and Carolyn Rust, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Sue Rust. He was also blessed with his friends Don Watson, Stuart Jordan, and his girlfriend Cody Davis.
David was an avid hunter and fisher, and a skilled craftsman as well. He was incredibly charismatic, with a larger than life personality that would light up any room. He carried humor with him wherever he went and had a contagious laugh; if you couldn't smile, he tried to smile twice as much for you. David was as compassionate as much as he was jokester; he could pick fun at you while making you feel loved and cherished at the same time. He was honest and real; with David there was never any question where you stood. David always made it a point to put family and friends before himself and his needs. To know David was to know a person who you could trust, depend, and call on at a moment's notice.
