James Wayne Hooten of Marshall left this world on February 09, 2017 to be with his beloved wife, Nancy. He was 83 years of age. Services will be at 2 p.m., the 13th of February 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Dr. Wallace Watkins officiating.   Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, the 12th of February at Downs Funeral Home.

Wayne was born October 03, 1933 in Winfield, Texas to Davis Wesley Hooten, Sr. and Ollie Violet Colton. He was a 1952 graduate of Marshall High School. On September 19, 1955 he married Nancy Jo Page. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He worked for Norit Americas for 30 years before his retirement. He loved working with his hands and could make anything. He also loved nature and sitting in his recliner watching the many animals pass thru his back yard.

Surviving Wayne is his son, Kerry and his daughter-in-law, Tammy Hooten; sister, Audrey Sahambon of Houston; sister-in-law, Martha Spurrier of Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy; son, Gary Wayne Hooten; brother, Davis Wesley Hooten, Jr; sisters, Evelyn Gray, Oleta Eubanks, and Juanita Clegg.
