James Louis Allen was born April 11, 1934 in Tatum, Texas and graduated from Tatum High School with the class of 1952. He retired from SWEPCO after 43 years of service. Mr. Allen passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Downs Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14 th at Harris Chapel Cemetery.

James is survived by his wife of 43 years, Juanita Hammett Allen of Tatum, Texas; daughters, Lisa Allen Harrison and husband, Billy Mack of Daingerfield, Texas, Lori Allen Fuller and husband Scott of Woodlawn, Texas; son, James Allen, II and wife Pam of Tatum, Texas; grandchildren, Jami Werth and husband, Trevor of Rockwall, Texas, Amy Langford Nash of Daingerfield, Texas, Shelby Fuller of Woodlawn, Texas, Joni Moore and husband Jeff of Beckville, Texas, Jody White of Tatum, Texas, Tanner Allen of Tatum, Texas, Kailyn (K.K.) Allen of Longview, Texas, John C. Langford and wife, Marcie of Carthage, Texas. Seven great grandchildren also survive Mr. Allen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Green Allen, his sister, Patsy Ruth Nelson, and a daughter, Gwendolyn Marie White.
