James Donald Mooney, 82, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on February 1, 2019. He was born on October 20, 1936 in Marshall, Texas to Cassell C. and Melba Ruth Mooney.

James grew up in Marshall, Texas attending Marshall public schools and graduated from Marshall High School.

James graduated from both Panola College and Kilgore College. He served in the US Air Force. James worked for Darco in Marshall, Texas, and Alcoa for 16 years, and was a Harrison County Commissioner for 16 years.  James was married for 55 years to his wife Joyce. They had two children Jennifer and Jeb Mooney.  He was a Mason.  James and Joyce retired in Las Cruces, New Mexico from Marshall, Texas

James is preceded in death by his parents Cassell and Melba Mooney

James is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jennifer Edelen and her husband Mike; son, Jeb and his wife Angela; grandchildren Macey Wanzer and her husband Dakota, Colton Edelen, Haley Edelen, Kendall Edelen, Sydney Edelen and Case Mooney.
