Mrs. Davis passed away on October 7, 2023, in Longview, Texas.

Known for her vibrant laughter, love for everyone she met, and generous heart, Janet Rose Baker Davis, 66, of Marshall, Texas, left her earthly body to dance through the gates of Heaven on October 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Marshall, Texas on August 19, 1957, to William L. Baker and Mamie Dell Baker. The third of four children, her loving parents and siblings were always her closest friends. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1975 then studied at BMI business school. She began working for Panola Harrison Electric Cooperative in 1977. Upon retirement from Panola Harrison in December 2018 after 41 years of dedicated service, customers would still call Janet with questions about their electric service. Her co-workers became lifelong friends.

She married Todd, her soulmate, on May 6, 1990. They loved each other through thick and thin. He affectionately called her "Red" not only for her hair, but also after the fiery attitude only he could inspire in her. After Todd's sudden death in 2017, she developed a passion for flowers, carefully putting together new arrangements for his headstone throughout the year.

Janet and Todd shared two daughters who they loved dearly. She raised them to be kind, compassionate, hard-working, and strong through anything. Beyond Janet's love for her girls, she was most proud of her title as "Sugar" to her precious grandbabies. They were the lights of her life and she thought of them before everything else. She cherished each moment that she spent spoiling them.

She grew up from a shy little girl, who spent many a tearful school day in her big brother's classroom, into a woman admired and adored by many with friends everywhere. She couldn't go into a store without running into three people she knew. She loved her classmates, her customers, and her community. She took great pride in her time spent volunteering at the elections office and was a huge supporter of small businesses and local causes. Janet found joy in spending time with her friend's country dancing, listening to live music, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

A champion for the underdog and a valiant example of Christ-like love in the way she cared for people, no matter whether she understood them or not, Janet opened her home and heart as an extra "mama" to many people over the years.

Throughout her illness, she put up the bravest fight, never complaining about the many trials she was facing and continuing to make friends along the way. Even though she was unable to use her voice during her last months, she had a joyful spirit that transcended sound and words.

Never quick to make a decision, Janet will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and practicality. She was always prepared and always knew what questions to ask. Nothing could've ever made us ready for the tremendous loss felt without our dear mother, sugar, sister, aunt, and friend here with us. Janet lit up the world with her love, and we can only honor her by trying to do the same in her absence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Todd Davis; father, William Leonard Baker and mother, Mamie Dell Townlin Baker.

She is survived by daughters Whitney Leigh Baker Lindsay and son in law Jacob Miles Lindsay, and daughter, Kaitlyn Kerr Davis; "Sugar Babies", Jacob Miles Lindsay Jr. and Adelaide Rose Davis. She is also survived by sisters, Camelia (Gary) Palmer and Debra Johnson; and brother, William "Bill" (Gerry) Baker, as well as sister-in-love Sherri Wilson; lifelong friend Rebecca Ponder; God-son Trey Patterson and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Marshall Animal Adoption Center or to the American Cancer Society.
