Funeral services for Mrs. Jarrett H. Turner will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery.  There will be a visitation preceding the funeral from 1-2 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home.

Jarrett Hazel Turner, 90 of Marshall was born May 24, 1927 in Minden, Texas to Jarrett Birdwell and Agnes Alexander Birdwell. She passed away June 17, 2017 at her residence in Marshall, Texas.  After graduating from Minden High School, she attended Rice University in Houston, Texas.  She married James R. Turner and was a homemaker, raising her own two children, and was a "mother" to many other children and animals.  In 1974, she started working at Marshall Memorial Hospital in the Admitting and Insurance Departments, and retired in 2004.  She was a member of Cypress Valley Church in Marshall, Texas.

Survivors are her children, James Rick Turner and wife, LaWanda, of Marshall, and Becky Byassee and husband,  Jon, also of Marshall.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Summer and Brian Willis, Trent and Brynn Turner; great grandchildren, Presley Turner, Alyssa Willis, Alexandra Alberts, Kellan Willis, and James David Turner; niece, Frances Rawlinson, and nephew, David Jarrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Turner, and two sisters Opal Shaw and Daisy Jarrell.
