Funeral services for Jean "Baby Jean" Smith Hicks, 76 of Tatum will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the funeral home. Mrs. Hicks passed away January 17, 2016 in Longview.

Jean "Baby Jean" Smith Hicks was born August 21, 1939 in Beckville, Texas to Walter Monroe Jones and Ivy Parthenia Williams Jones. She was married to Leland Hicks who preceded her in death in 2008. Jean worked as an operator services supervisor for AT&T retiring in 1994.She loved animals and loved taking care of people.

Surviving Jean are her children, Danny Smith and wife Debi and Paula Bishop and husband Jimmy; nephew, Paul Jones and wife Cathy; niece, Melissa McLaughlin and husband Ed; great nieces and nephews, Jake McLaughlin, Sarah McLaughlin, Phillip, Chris and Kyle Jones and special cousin, Diane Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Sonny Jones.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Beall, Chant Jordan, Vicky Zandre Jr., Rayman Powell, Joey Shivers, and Don Liles. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Cole and Tommy Liles.
