Jeff Gaines Weeks was born in Marshall, Texas on June 1, 1940, to Melba Lena Gaines Weeks and Opha T. Weeks. He resided in Marshall all his life except for his three years of service in the U.S. Navy beginning in the summer of 1959, two years working in Port Arthur, Texas, and the first three years of marriage which was spent in Kilgore and Alexandria, Louisiana. He returned to Marshll to assist his father in operating Weeks Gulf Service Station. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his niece, Gentry Weeks. Gaines was married to Gayle Ashmore on August 20, 1965 in Marshall, Texas. August 20, 2013 would have been their 48th wedding anniversary, a date he hoped to achieve. In 1968, Gaines and Gayle welcomed the birth of their first child, Jeffery G. (Jeff) Weeks. In 1970, a second son, Jon Gregory (Greg) was born, completing their family. He continued to work at the station, becoming owner and operator until his retirement in 1989. He worked offshore for a year and then went to work for Johnny Williams Ford for two years. At that point in his life, he decided to pursue his lifetime love, investing. He had followed the stock market since taking an economics class in high school. Additionally, he invested in the oil and gas industries, buying mineral rights and participating in wells. Jeffery graduated from Texas A&M and eventually married Cynthia (Cindy) Sachitano. They have a son, Joshua Travis Weeks and a daughter, Jillian Christine Weeks. Jeff is Vice President of Fidelity with two offices in Austin, Texas. Greg attended SFA and Control Data Institute in Dallas. He worked as a computer technician, eventually becoming a network engineer. He married Carolyn Baker Anderson. They are the proud parents of Dakota Anderson of Denton, Brooke Madison Anderson, Sydney Michelle Weeks, and Jon Ashton Weeks of Allen, Texas. Anyone who met Gaines also knew of his passions. He loved to talk about his sons' accomplishments, his beautiful daughters-in- law, and his perfect grandchildren. He would always try to introduce anyone who would listen how to invest. He also loved to play golf, which he did almost daily until his health prevented him from continuing. He was a long-time member of Marshall Lakeside Country Club. He also loved his houseboat on Lake O' the Pines. He especially enjoyed get-togethers and reunions with members of the MHS Class of '58. His brother, Terry Weeks and his wife Jackie and son Brett Weeks have been so faithful to support him and Gayle during the trials of his illnesses. Special friends, Pat Munden and Glinda Solomon have been invaluable in brightening his days. A special thanks to Drs. Pham, Rajeez Singh, and Dr. Rava Nayini. Good Shepherd Home Health and Heartsway Hospice helped to make his life more comfortable.
