Jeremy C.
Fugate
Jan 5, 1985 — Aug 23, 2024
Marshall
Jeremy Chad Fugate peacefully joined his Lord Jesus Christ on August 23, 2024, after a 5-year battle with heart disease. Jeremy was born January 5, 1985, in Austin, Tx to Phalby B. Norris of Marshall, Tx, and Gary Jo Fugate of Kermit, Tx. The family moved from Austin to Hutto, Tx and he graduated from Hutto High School in 2003, home of the Hippos. He attended Blinn College in Brenham Tx. Jeremy relocated to Marshall in 2010 and made it his permanent home. He was a "jack of all trades" and put his many talents to good use. In 2005, he became the Shop Foreman at Backyard Fun Factory in Haltom City, Tx where he used his woodworking skills. After moving to Marshall, he got his footing by working for various contractors at multiple sites, including the Haywood L Strickland Living/Learning Center at Wiley College. He also loved his time working at the Wonderland of Lights during the Christmas season. In 2013, he joined Assman SW Corporation Inc as a commercial molder and painter. His path took a change in 2017 when he graduated from Panola Professional Truck Driving School and worked for Fluid Disposal Specialties Inc.
Jeremy had a heart of gold, never met a stranger, was larger than life, and lived life to the fullest. His laugh was infectious. He ran on "Jeremy time" and was always on the hunt for a good bargain. A short shopping trip would turn into hours. He loved to cook, grill, and keep his yard looking sharp. However, his true passion was his devotion to God, spreading God's word, and ministering to those in need. He wanted to bring people from darkness into the light and help them seek the truth. Jeremy was an organ donor, and even in death he continued to give life and hope to others. He was a member of and baptized at the Word of God Ministries in Shreveport, LA, and influenced so many that he took to church.
Jeremy is survived by his mother, Phalby Norris (Fugate) Porter of Marshall, son, Konnar Fugate of Round Rock, step-brother, Phillip (Tracy) Porter, step-sister, Stephanie Elaine Porter, uncle, Dale Fugate, aunt, Debbie Kay Fugate Owens, and last but never least his most devoted and constant companions, Abraham (German shepherd dog), and Jah Jah (American bull dog) who never left his side.
He was predeceased by his maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Emma Merritt Beehn, grandparents, Phalby Beehn Norris/Clarence Albert Norris, stepfather, Charles L Porter Jr, paternal grandparents Billy Jo Fugate/Leona Fugate, father, Gary Jo Fugate, and his best friend/brother, Gary Jo Fugate, Jr.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Downs Funeral Home, Marshall, Tx for their love, concern, and care of the Porter/Fugate family; in addition, we express our gratitude to Dr. Terry Gerber for her constant attention and care during his illness. Dr Gerber was not only his doctor, but his true friend.
